Potatoes and Cream
  • 3 large Russet potatoes peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Method
 

Preparation and Cooking
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish with nonstick spray or butter.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 1 minute). Stir in the heavy cream until well combined.
  3. Layer the sliced potatoes in the greased baking dish, seasoning each layer with salt and pepper, then pouring some of the creamy mixture over them. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
  4. Top with shredded cheeses, cover with aluminum foil, and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown and bubbly. Serve warm drizzled with remaining sauce if desired.
