- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
- Add eggs one at a time along with the vanilla extract; mix until smooth.
- Gradually incorporate dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined; fold in red food coloring until desired color is reached.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them about two inches apart. Bake for 10 minutes or until edges are set but centers remain soft.
- Cool on wire racks before serving.
