  • 1 box chocolate or vanilla cake mix 15.25 oz
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1/2 cup frosting of choice
  • 1 cup melting chocolate or candy melts
  • decorative sprinkles as desired

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking pan and prepare the cake mix according to package instructions using eggs and melted butter.
  2. Bake and let the cake cool completely. Once cooled, crumble it into fine pieces in a bowl.
  3. Mix in half a cup of frosting until well combined; the mixture should hold together when squeezed.
  4. Roll tablespoon-sized portions into balls and place on a parchment-lined tray. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Melt the chocolate coating as per package instructions. Dip each chilled ball into the melted chocolate until fully coated.
  6. Before the coating hardens, sprinkle with decorative sprinkles and insert lollipop sticks for easy handling.
