- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and granulated sugar. Let it sit until frothy.
- Add salt and all-purpose flour to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a cloth. Let it rise until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (218°C).
- In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water to a boil and add baking soda.
- Roll the dough into long ropes and shape them into shamrocks.
- Boil each shamrock in the baking soda water for about 30 seconds.
- Remove from water and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush with a mixture of warm water and green food coloring and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
