Ingredients
  

Topping
  • 2 cups sliced peaches fresh or canned
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
Cake Batter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk

Method
 

Prepare the Topping
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and brown sugar until combined.
  3. Pour the mixture into the bottom of the cake pan.
  4. Arrange the sliced peaches evenly over the sugar mixture.
Make the Cake Batter
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, until smooth.
Bake the Cake
  1. Pour the cake batter over the arranged peaches in the pan.
  2. Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  3. Let the cake cool for 10 minutes, then invert onto a serving plate.
