- Rub the marinade thoroughly over the tri-tip roast. For best results, marinate in the fridge for at least 1 hour or overnight.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 450°F).
- Sear the marinated tri-tip on direct heat for about 5-7 minutes on each side until a charred crust forms.
- Move the roast away from direct heat and close the lid. Cook indirectly until it reaches an internal temperature of 135°F for medium-rare (about 20-30 minutes).
- Allow the tri-tip to rest on a cutting board for at least 10 minutes before slicing against the grain.
